Anybody into models ?

Err, car models that is.

Ran into one of these at the local Zellers (got the 1:64 '59 KG Coupe):

I checked their website and they have quite the collection:

Talking

Yep! I have been collecting modelcars for about 10 years or so. (Audi, Porsche and of course Veedubs)

I've got several of the die casts in alot of scales, but there's nothing like actually building 'em. I've been building models for about 13 years now, and usually take them a bit over board.

One of my latest projects:

'66 Drag conversion, slow and steady (more pics here)

My future projects:

Sometimes these go quick, sometimes it takes months to find parts from other kits to make resin copies of. Like now, i'm waiting on a few different 911 models to show up so I can copy the fan shrouds for the GLs.

It's an Aoshima kit. P/N 035399

I've got 4 of them now, and another 6 on the way from here. I plan on a rally car with 2 of them already. They're cheap enough, and it shows. They're currently the only 1303 models available, though.

My conclusions after looking through the kit leave quite a bit to be desired, and are not totally accurate. Nothing some putty, sculpting, and resin parts won't fix. Here's a couple pics. The front end is gonna require a bit of work, and the pan, ughh, i'll just make one out of styrene and make some molds of it. Engine will be a resin copy from the tamiya '66 beetle like above, with webers, porsche fan, etc.

I'll post some pics of a finished one in a couple of weeks. I'm gonna get started on one this weekend.

Latest Shipment

So here's what I've just received.

Might combine a super and a '67 to make a model of my car, a '73 standard

Plenty more of these guys for some experimentation

Might build this one stock (highly detailed and not cheap)

And some of these for a diorama i'm building

Speaking of dioramas, have a look at THESE.
