How do I find the year of my car?

How do I find the year of my car? I was told it is a 73 but not 100% sure. It has run roof and atm I dont have a title =(. I apped for it and it will be in my hand soon.

If you still have the original engine i guess you can check it out by engine number. There are several databases on the internet that can tell you the year based on the engine number, or sometimes, chassis number.

A picture would be great, the vin would be even better. The engine number could be right, but you don't know if they changed the engine case at one point in it's life.

BLS, its a '73 STD bug if the VIN starts with 113, and if its a super 133

its also a 73 if it has the curved windheild with the round rear tail lights and skinny bumper holes with solid bumper brackets. also will most likely have 3 bolt struts .

It does have 3 bolt struts. Im hoping to have the body off this week end to start working on the pan rust.

In the UK you can just write to VW UK with your vin number, and they will tell you when it was made..
