drop spindles
I've read that the weld in adjusters give to harsh of a ride, and that the spindles are the best route to go. However, there is a large price difference in the two choices. So my question is: Where is the cheapest place to buy drop spindles?
Thanks, Zack |

Ok here's the low down on the beam. Dropped spindles weigh
20 lbs. each, and push your tire out 3/4" twards the fender. They suck. Beam adjusters don't necissarily create a harsh ride unless you twist one, and not both. They are the best way to go if you want smooth. You can always go stiff, so always start soft. My bug rides like a paint mixer, because the upper tosion spring was twisted up 15 degrees to lower it. This is a cheap assed hoopty way to get low. BUY AN ADJUSTABLE BEAM! with urethane bushings..... |

Keep in mind that with an adjustable beam your suspension travel will be limited (if you lower it), and you might need new (shorter) shocks.
The advantage of dropped spindles is that your suspension geometry and -travel will stay pretty much the same as stock. I have an adjustable beam, but recently added dropped spindles to regain suspension travel.. Rob. |

I believe CB Performance dropped spindles only widen your track 1/4" per side (1/2" per side if you use their disc brake setup too) and price wise, you are going to pay about $100 for a new beam with adjusters in it or $200 for CB Spindles.... the choice is yours. If I had a standard again, I would use a combination of both adjusters & spindles to be able to have a good ride and be able to dial in my ride height too.

I agree with vujade, CB spindles don't move your tire out much and they weigh only slightly more than the stock spindles.
I have CB spindles and adjusters to fine tune the ride height. Adjusters do cause a harsh ride if you slam it to the weeds, the trailing arm angle is wrong and screws up the geometry. ken |

I'm going with dropped spindles this winter. I have an adjustable beam dropped as low as it will go (3") and it rides like a brick wagon ... no suspension travel on the front at all, harsh as well.
With the dropped spindles, adjustable beam combo, I'll have the luxury of suspension travel and being able to choose my ride height. Sandeep |

Thanks for the tips everyone! Who has the cheapest price on an adjustable beam? I see that cbperformance sells the puma adjustable beam for 143.95. Is that about the best price I am going to find?
Thanks again everyone!
