914 Engine
Anybody around here running a 1.8 914 engine in their bug ?
How much work was it to convert it ? Is there a difference between a 'normal' TIV and a 914 engine ? Thanks, Rob. |

I see this post all the time! I'm adding the differences to "Jake's thougthts" as soon as I get a spare night to work on the site.
there were basically 2 914 engines, 17/1800 and then the 2.0 the 2.0 has 3 stud buig chambered heads and are highly sought after.... It is a TIV engine and there is nothing "Special" about it!

Thanks Jake,
So the 1.8 914 is a good candidate ? I guess since the 2.0 is much sought after it will not be as easy to find as a 1.8 ? Thanks, Rob. |

They are not hard to find. Fairly $$ tho. I picked up a spare set of 2L heads cuz the price was right. Paid 450 for the set in my 2L project. Going into my 914 first. Then the Bug after the Big 4 is done (for the 914)
500 for the rebuilding the pair...
