911 2,0 flat6 into T-34.

Ok, here ít goes..

I've been offered a 2,0 flat6 pretty cheap. Now I want to find out if anyone have any info on what I need to do to fit this engine to the stock IRS tranny equiped T-34. I know it have been done and so on. Just want to have some technical advice according to flywheel, startermotor etc.

I know one collegue in Australia who have been running a 2,7 MFI in his T-34 in 10 years now with a stock IRS transmission, but he didn't build it him self so he cannot help me very much in the technical part of the conversion...

For the suspension I have 944 trailinarms/hubs, discbrakes, torsionarms and torsionbars in the rear. Up front I will have 944 discbrakes too.

With the 2,0 - 6 your in luck as far as the flywheel is considered. Its the same style as the beetle 200mm-style flywheels. Finding a clutch and starter that fits should be pretty straigthforward. I don't have the exact recipe; you'll have to try a few things, but AFAIK, no fabrication is required

Just a confirmation. The G-Razor will get a boxer 6 heart!

We will close the deal tonight!

The seller also confirmed the fact about the flywheel etc. He said that the pre-69 flywheel (215mm) is a straight forward and stock (or stockish) VW clutch goes Bolt-on. Also stock starter is ok..

Fweehh!! I've been reading throug Finnish regulations and laws regarding conversions and customizing and finally I think I have found a Rathole to make the Porsche conversion possible...

The Finnish regulations are pretty airtight...

Basically they say that when changing the engine to a bigger engine the largest displacement is 25% calculated from the largest engine in the model range. (=Maximum 1980cc) Also the power increase is only allowed to rise 20% from the most powerful in the modelrange. (= maximum 64,8hp in a T-3) and finally even the weight is restricted to maximum of 30% higher than the largest in the range... (=164 kilo's)

The Porsche engine's specs are as follows:
1991cc
110hp, 130hp or 160hp
182 kilo's

Anyways I've found a paragraph that says that if the replacement engine goes over those limitations it is possible to get it approved if brakes are changed to match the more powerful engine and also if I distribute the weight of the car more evenly. In this case I will locate the battery in the front and also the oilcoolers and sump in the front...

So, I'm still optimistic!

Yes, Finland is the promised land of modifying... :agree:

I'm now trying to figure out wether I need to make an extra support for the transmission for the transmission and engine or if it is enough to just use the stock T-3 IRS front mount for the transmission and a rear custom made enginemount behind the engine...? (Just like on a stock T-3 or 911)

A stock engine is about 90kg I think so if the flat-6 is 182 it might be best to add some support, maybe add a trans midmount also.
What you also could do is move the trans+ engine forward a little (like with subaru EJ conversions) for better weight distribution (I moved mine 46mm forward)

How different (package size) are 911 engines? Could you fit (if not for Finnish law) something like a 993 engine or 996 engine?

Its been awhile since I posted any here... I would say that there aren't much difference in size except for the turbo versions..

If I would dare I could even go for the 2,7l and claim it is the 2,0 but with FI...

As soon as I get started with this project will I post the progress here too. :agree:

Finally! The engine arrived yesterday! Just need to do an inventory to see what parts might be missing.. What I know is missing is the fan/generator and early flywheel.
