914 Master cylinder

Has anyone ever used a 914 master cylinder on a Beetle?

The car I talk about most on here has hybrid 914/944 F, 944 R brakes all with a stock 1303 MC, however, my other 1303 has typical front and rear disc brake kits from CB Performance. These are also on the stock 19mm MC (four wheel drum, originally). The car stops well...I have no issues there. What I don't like it the rock hard pedal. I have purchased a good used 17mm 914 master cylinder, however, it occurred to me, I'm not 100% certain it fits (ASIDE from the mount angle issue. Lanner is going to provide me with one of his 944 to Super Beetle MC adapters to see if we can make it work).

What I'm hoping to gain is some pedal travel. I think it will be easier to modulate the brakes if I have more than two inches of movement betwixt no brake and BRAKES! Most go the other direction, to a larger MC, but I can't stand not having and "feel" when I'm using the brakes. Anyone ever try this?
