Not sure if it can be taught or if it is just something you learn on your own from practice.

Drifting is becoming more and more popular.
See http://www.driftnation.com/ There was a big D1 event in the States recently, even up here in Canada we had an event ! It's pretty difficult to do, especially at high speed, I'll just stick to throwing my WRX around in the snow Rob. |

it's possible. go out in a parking lot and throw your car sideways. you will either learn or crash.
or you can take the ricer method and learn via Gran Turismo.
