Brake line problem.....
I overlooked the fact that the 911 master cylinder only has 1 outlet port for the front brake lines instead of the 2 required. Here is what I was thinking of doing.... I was going to remove the brake sensor and put the line into the M/C there, then I was going to use the rear "T" fitting inline with the left/front metal brake line so the brake sensor will still work. I was going to order another "T" fitting and another short brake line so I could finish my brakes. Correct me if I'm wrong but the brake hardware that is sold at my local auto parts store won't fit because the they are "all" standard thread.

You should be able to get Euro flare lines at AutoZone in different lengths. The "T" fitting plan should work.

Sweet. :agree: I hope they have the metric "T" fittings also.

Got another problem now. I ordered rear rubber lines for my car and when I tried to fit them they are too short. The website says they are supposed to be 235mm long. The lines I took off of my car were 245mm long and the new replacements are 230mm long. I checked and where I could find the part number they are all the same number as the lines that don't fit.

Sweet. It's kinda hard to see since everything is so shiny.
Now all I have to do is figure out the rear rubber lines on my car and the chassis is pretty much done. :agree:

Still having brake troubles...
Does the main line to the rear go directly from the M/C to the "T" fitting in the back. I ended up short again on my brake lines. The 911 M/C isn't that different from the type 1 M/C that the main line wouldn't fit. It only makes it to the rear grommet just before the torsion tube in the back. Should I get a connector and another line or should I get another line and re-bend it.???

When I have done one of those hard line kits the main line to the rear was always a little long and I had to do some creative bending to use up the extra line.

I need another 8" to 10" to make sure I have enough line. I will see what is available for other VW's to see if any of them have a longer main line.
Rubber rear lines are still too short by 15mm. So thats how they sell them so cheap. Is this the correct way to route the brake line through the car.???

Looks like you did the routing around the pedal right, just get a coupling and a short line from the parts store and finish it. The bender you are useing makes a big radius, I had some trouble with one of those trying to do the tight bends at the M/C and at the "T" at the back. I had to use a socket for the tight ones when I did Zens car.

I guess I will get a smaller bender to finish the car. One of the big VW companies sells 8' sections of brake line for custom applications or it could of been a vanagon. I need some other stuff too so I'll just get a new main line.
Another problem. When I ordered my rear rubber lines for my car the caption said they were 235mm long. The lines that came off the car are 245mm long. When I actually measured them because they didn't fit I found they were only 230mm long, (9" long ). I then found a set(4) stainless steel braided lines for a super and the rear wre measured at 10" long (250mm). I thought all IRS beetles had the same rear rubber lines.

Do the super beetles have longer rear rubber lines??? One source said they were 11" long which would be perfect. I don't know if it is a mis-print or a fact.

The back end of a Super is the same as a Standard.
