I have finally finished my car.
Ok, I lied. I'm still waiting on the door panels, but besides that, it's finished, shook down, road tested, and licensed. Here's some recent pictures after I just washed it (with filtered pond water because of the drought, no kidding ) and glazed it.

Sorry Jason, I don't have a camcorder. This car's been eatin' all my audio-visual duckets.
Suffice to say, I'm impressed with the power and especially the torque which starts to get beefy at 2200 rpm, and doesn't go away until somewhere after 5k. The chassis feels much stiffer than the '71, takes turns much faster, and with far less body roll as well.

Thanks! They're 2" wider per side in front, and 3" per side in back.
Quote:
I drove it to work today, and during my lunch hour I went for a 20 mile highway drive to see where the temps would end up again. I drove pretty hard for 15 miles or so to get a good heat load, and drove REAL hard leaving one stoplight. The right head barely made it to 300, and the left one was about 280 (inverse of what I expected, but maybe because of the heat shield under the left bank covering my oil plumbing), and the oil temp was exactly halfway up the gauge. I probed the dipstick tube with a thermometer for 15 min immediately after shutdown and observed 176 degrees, and dropping, and it was about 65 degrees ambient temp today.

Sweet looking ride. Glad to hear it is doing well.
Bring it down to Dyno Day in march and join in the Type 4 line up.

Awesome man! perfect ride height, and very clean.
Funny color , I was so close to painting my 1303 in a dark metalic blue like yours, but i decided that staying with the original L41 black was the way to go. Jonathan

Great car!
How did you make the rear bumper fit so well with widened fenders? |

I just trimmed the bottoms of the ends before I painted it, and made sure I installed it as far back as it would go. I didn't end up with much room between the ends and the fenders though. There may be 2" clearance from the fenders at both ends.
