Oil-galleries- how to clean

Hi,

Just wanted some tips on doing this: pulling the plugs, ream, tap and screw in new ones.

All the ones that I`ve seen sold is NPT, so the hole should ideally be bored and reamed (tapered), but many apperantly just tap it.

I was wondering if I should use metric/BSP plugs instead without taper since I dont have a reamer.

Do all the plugs have to be pulled, or do some actually dont give meaning to pull.
Also: how do you people do this on your rebuild/new block.

I use brass NPT plugs but you can get aluminum ones (avoid steel plugs, different expansion rate as AL), you can just run the tap without reaming it as the cast material is extremely soft. Careful how deep you run the taper tap in as your plug might partialy block an oil passage.
I use regular teflon tape to seal it up, had no problems doing it that way for the last 12 years.

Once off, I use varisol, power washer, detergent and rifle brushes to clean the bores out
