How many cars have you owned?

I'm not just talking about VDubs either. I mean everything.

I have owned a total of 19 now. I have been driving since I was 15 & I am now 34. So that equals out to 1 new car per year. Im sure it was always 1 per year, sometimes I had as many as 5 at once, but you get the picture.

I think I better start buying some more VW's or I might get behind....

Here is a list of what I have owned so far...

1st: '84 Mazda GLC - Stock
2nd: '66 Beetle - Cal Look
3rd: '69 Chevy Nova - Hot Rod
4th: '81 Pontiac Sunbird - Stock
5th: '71 Karmann Ghia - Custom
6th: '88 Chevy S10 - Lowrider
7th: '85 Mustang - Lowrider
8th: '69 Karmann Ghia - Custom
9th: '69 Notchback - Custom
10th: '87 Golf GTI - Stock
11th: '84 Toyota Supra - Stock
12th: '85 Golf GT - Stock
13th: '84 Nissan 300ZX - Stock
14th: '68 VW Fastback - Stock
15th: '94 Nissan 300ZX - Mostly Stock (Current Car)
16th: '67 Beetle - Stock
17th: '74 Super - Parts Car
18th: '71 Super - German Looker (Current Car)
19th: '73 Porsche 914 (Current Car) *Almost forgot about this one

Okay, here goes in Year Model (years owned) comment order:

1969 Ford Mustang Fastback (1973-76) fold-down rear seat
1976 Ford Econoline E-150 (1976-80) more room than a fold-down rear seat
1965 Ford Falcon 4-door (1977-78) first second car and for just $75
1972 Ford Maverick (1980-82) interim car owned way too long
1979 Fiat Brava (1982-87) "Fix It Again Tony" was fun too drive
1986 VW Jetta GLI (1986-2001) quarter-million miler got me started on VWs*
1985 Mazda RX-7 (1987-91) wife bought it new ... zoom zoom
1985 VW Vanagon (1991-97) more practical and surprisingly fun
1981 VW Pickup LX (1992-97) first third car I wish I still had
1993 VW EuroVan MV Westy (1997- ) pop-top open-roader
2001 VW Jetta (2000-01) co-owned and driven by my dad
2002 VW Passat (2001- ) same as above ... my dad just turned 87**
2002 VW Cabrio GLX (2001- ) finally a drop-top to go with my pop-top
2002 VW Golf TDI (2002- ) it's nice to get 40-50 mpg again
1971 VW Super Beetle (2004- ) ahhh ... air-cooled, finally

* technically, my dad's 1966 VW Beetle got me started as I was driving that when I was 12. In 1973, my dad talked me out of buying a new VW Thing; then talked me out of a 1972 VW Karmann Ghia convertible and a 1968 Mustang convertible. It would be 13 years before I finally bought a VW and 28 years before I bought a convertible ... and will be 31 years before an air-cooled VW is purchased.

** my dad's list would be v-e-r-y impressive. Ironically, he owned many convertibles and loved his '66 Beetle.

Right now I own the following:

1971 Super Beetle
1970 Beetle
1968 Beetle
1973 412
1967 Beetle

Current Project:

1984 Puma GTI

The Puma is my current project car and I am very excited to get to get it on the autocross track. It is getting a 2110 turbo engine. Just a question, but I have never seen a German Look Puma. Anyone ever seen one done like that.

Lessee - including the wife's cars:
1 - 1973 Superbeetle (still have - although in pieces at the mo)
2 - 199? Geo Metro (acckkk! wifes car before we were married)
3 - 1995 VW Passat VR6 5spd
4 - 1992 VW Rabbit Cabriolet (replaced the Geo - much more fun to drive when it worked)
5) 1995 Mazda Miata M Edition (replaced #4 - talk about a hoot to drive!)
6) 2000 Audi A41.8T quattro 5spd to replace the 1995 Passat
7) 2002 Mini Cooper S 6spd to replace #5 when our little one came along (its got a back seat and is as fun to drive as the Miata)
8) 2001 BMW 325iT (wagon) 5spd to replace #6 as the family car.

So I still own #1, #7, and #8.
