Sway what?

So does anyone have an informed opinion on which sway bars will play nice with a bug @ 5speed front trans mount?
My build in particular is a 915 stuffed in with full 87 944T rear suspension.
I haven't purchased the bug @ 5speed parts yet, as I'm trying to figure out the swaybar mounting. I did see some really great fab work posted on here that used the trans cone but not the mount in favor of a wonderfully brewed home job with porsche hanger mounts.
If I chose to stick with the bug @ 5speed front mount, is there another sway bar that might fit? With reasonable fabrication of course. 996 or 928 maybe?

The only way to get a sway bar to fit is to weld inner mounts onto the torsion housing tall enough to clear the front mounting point on a 901/915 convert. I have done the measuring on mine with a 944 bar still using the outside (springplate) mounting points. It would have been complete with pics, but when I stripped the 944 torsion housing of the parts I needed. I forgot to cut the factory inner sway bar mounting points off before taking it to the scrap metal dump

Hi

The 944 bracket is in two pieces, the one on torsion tube is welded, the one that bolts to it is the same as a 1302 or 1303 front sway bar mount.

Hi

I have the latest PET on my system and the welded part is not listed as a part in either the stabiliser section or the rear axle carrier section.

It might be listed as a repair part.

Your right, I had a look too and its not there, anymore

It was as far back as 2008/9 I bought them though. The link to the page I got the part number from (was an extract from PET) was on my old work desktop which is long gone now.

I have the Topline rear swaybar kit and I have my own front mount I designed for the 901 transmission which is very similar to the 5speed one. The sway bar seems to clear the mount fine. I can try to get pictures up tomorrow. Not sure if they will contact each other once the car is lowered.

Thx for reminding me.

I'm still concerned about clearance once the motor is in, whether or not the whole bar will contact the front mount.
