Fast & Furious Roofscoop?

Hi all, i was wondering if anyone has ever seen a bug with one of those fast and furious scoops like the Eclipse had mounted onto the roof? Also what are your thoughts on something like that?

I think it's lame that your getting ideas for your thirty year old car from a new-age ricer flick, but that's just me.

Do you want the roof scoop to be functional?

I stated Fast & Furious, as most people are familiar with that movie but NOT FIA World Rally cars.

I would prefer the scoop to be functional (I am a huge Rally fan, and as such have seen practically ALL rally cars have them installed) and would like to somehow have it route down to the rear through some filters or something (have you seen the late model Lotus Exige with the split window and roof scoop?) something like that.

Where are you wanting to place it? What function do you want it to serve?

The roof vents you see on WRC cars are for cabin airflow, AKA air conditioning.

Thanks Ricola, I found the pics of Judgie's hillclimber, looks like one bad bug. and that scoop is something like i want only a little more modern looking. I would like it to serve a purpose like perhaps for additonal engine cooling?

beat me to it
scoop is functional and was the only way i could get some fresh air into the car.fixed perspex windows and all holes in the dash filled for the msa tech regs.still needs some holes putting in the rear screen to let air out.
cheers rob

if you want it for engine cooling, then side vents would be more practical

+1

There is no point in putting a scoop on the roof for an intake/engine cooling. Let me find a picture of the Jeffery's race car.

Here it is, the J/Sport race car. Notice the large scoop behind the rear side window? That's what you want.

Sure thing. Here is J/sport's web site- http://www.ne.jp/asahi/jeffreys/vw/

You're going to need to use Babblefish unless you already know Japanese.

Do what you want to do, not what others think is 'cool'.
If we all thought that way we we all drive the same car.

Rob.

Cool

uless it is going to be functional which i doubt, i wouldnt bother adding more weight to your roof, which s the worst place to add weight as it raises your center of gravity.

roof scoops tend to look cheap and nasty, stay well clear.
