Where did you get you roll cage? It appears to be ceramic coated or is that polish alloy or stainless?

Thanks,
Gary

Question

Hi Mathias,

First, I have to admit that this is one of the nicest projects I've ever seen and actually because I love your color choice!!
Is this the color that you've already painted the car and appears on the main photo gallery??

If yes, I'am interesting to have the details of this colour because I'm in the middle on resto of a 1303 project and I'd love to paint it with this particular colour.

Thanks in advance,
Jimmy

Cheers everyone! Sorry for not posting for some time... The project came to a standstill as my hands got numd and i visited my doctor who told me that I was stessed out and needed operation to get back on track
Funny, with three kids, a house from 1927 beeing rebuilt, my own company to run and some pet projects (1303 -75 and 1500 -67) I can´t understand why I´m stressed out

However the body is coming off soon and the work needed will be done with some help from my friend "evil notch" so have faith I WILL finish this MF this spring

PS. heres a cool link. Not GL but still lovers of the aircooled wonder...

Thanx Anders. As I´m waiting for my operation I can not do so much right now but I´m getting all the parts I need to finish. Right now I´m looking for a new gearbox, probably a 914. The body will come off soon and chassie after poudercoating will be rebuilt with new coilovers, Porsche brakes, 914 tranny and all other parts needed (read wanted ) to make it a true GL.

Hi Mathias,

good luck with your operation. The project looks good. Had one car in the past that was a similiar style. Do also use the wings from Kerscher. They are of high quality. My current car is with 2 cm wider wings in the back and steel wings in the front which were pulled a little. It´s with 17 inch wheels from the Boxter and has a 914 5-speed in. The engine I have chosen in this case is the watercooled Subaru 2.2. For me and my wife it is a car that is used every day and so it was clear not to use a type 4 or type 1. The engine had 215.000 kms on the back when it was installed into the Beetle. We opened it and it looked nearly like new. There was nothing to be done on it at all. If somebody likes a watercooled Beetle, then this engine is a good alternative. Attached one little photo of the car. There was a report in VW Speed about it, which I have as a PDF. But unfortunatelly it´s too big for here. Hope ypou enjoy it.

Good luck!

Martin Bott

Thanx Martin. I must admit that I´we been thinking about Subaru conversion I´m normally one of those who belives that a bug should be aircooled (or is it just an excuse ) however it´s a really nice car you have there.

Mathias.

Long time, no VW.

Yes I´m back. 2007 was a slow year for me since I´w had surgery to both my hands. I´m finally getting back on track now and guess what gets my attention first?

We have now taken the body of the pan. I´we orderd new floor pans that hopefully will arrive tomorrow. My friend had little to do this friday so he put together a rack for the pan. Easy to work on it now.

Next step is to weld everyting up and get the pan to the sandblaster and powdercoat.
