Decklid Air scoop

Is there any kind of "bolt-on" airscoop that covers the vents on the deck lid kinda like the rain guard only it sucks air in? Also, what would be the advantage (if any) to this kind of modification or is it just really unneccessary?

You could get the Decklid Stand-off's. They raise the top of the decklid almost an inch for better air scoopage. Look on Mid America's site I think its 800luvbugg.com I know they have them.

Stand offs...

I was using those for a long time, but I'm going for a look that's a bit more refined.

Well you could either get some of those Empi scoops that go on the side of the car, cut them, run an inlet like panelfantastic did back to the engine bay and or try to make something up that would suit your fancy, I cant really think of anything else right off hand. I remember in VWTrends a while back they did some GL Beetles, one of them was running a 3.0+ motor and had lines running from near his rear quarterpanels to teh bay. I kinda wanted to try that, but I dont know how that would be in the winter.

From what I understand, the rear of the bug from about the middle of the rear window down is just a big bunch of rough air. I don't think there is any "scoopable" air there, but that's just what I understand, so ask in a few more places.
