I can't imagine that it is.
With all of my dealings with the DMV, I must say this is one subject I have no experience. That being said, I would call or check their site about lost VIN's. There has to be a procedure if you have a title but the plate got lost. I know there is a procedure in Maryland to register a car that has no plate. I never experienced it first hand, but I have been told it is involved. Each state varies, however. |

I would think you can get by with the vin plate on the winshield (assuming yours has one) or the vin stamped in the Tunnel under the rear seat (that is the one we use here)
I don't think I've ever seen a reproduction of that sticker |

Hello
the procedure in our country is to go to the transportations ministry, department of vehicles and make first the identification of the car, using the numbers that are stamped bellow the rear seat. After the car is identificated, the guys there stamp (with those hummer panches) on a place that is a little bit dificcult to be destroyed in an accident (like the inner upper member of the door column) the registration number of the vehicle. You get also a certification for the procedure and a new registration card with your new chassis numbers and your' done. Friendly Dimitrios |
