Bump stop perch clearancing
I want to cut the bump stop perch to allow a wider tyre to be fitted, and was wondering how much is safe to cut off before there is a risk that the bump stop doesn't work and slides off the perch?

Evil Sid,
The bump stop is held in place by a small "mushroom" shaped centre section that the rubber stop fits over and locks onto. The part around the bottom of the bump stop provides support for the stop under compression. Now if you cut the underling support out, the stop may stay in place for a period of time. However I suspect that under loading conditions, it would simply pop off the "mushroom" as it would have a tendency to lean to the under cut side. (at least that's the way I THINK it would react) Just my two cents worth, but there may be better opinions out there. Cheers, Doug |

I cut from memory, about 15mm of mine, though thats all i needed to cut off to clear my wheels.
