HID LIGHTS.........again

I'm thinking about HID lights,
I know that in the past ALEX & PETEVW have had them, also HOT66 once mentioned (post here) that 911 & Porsche World magazine had done a feature on HID for the 964 which he was going to try and post some info.
If any one can point me in the right direction, particularly you lot on this side of the pond (shipping costs I hate them)
I've seen some kits available from Hong Kong, but I'm a bit suspicious about sending money there with all the reports of dodgy traders

Cheers Rob.

I think that the 911 lights through the 964 will fit into the early fenders with little to no modification. That being said why not just get a set of halogen 911 lights with some bright bulbs.

You can get ballasts and D2S bulbs from ebay. You will need to modifiy the bulb with the H4 ring to secure it. YOu can use an original H4 bulb.....smash it up and glue the the plate to hold H4 bulbs in the lamp housing to the HID bulb.

You can get already done H4 converions on ebay Germany. They use original Hella stuff.
To make one thing clear....the brightest bulb is the 4300k one. All the ones with higher numbers just gove you a more blueish light and actually reduce brightness.
Info on that is plentyfull on the net.

Alex

ohh yes...

the 4300k is the brightest. i think too bright. i get flashed driving around. my buddy has a set on his MK2 golf. he has them adjusted as far low as they go, and they still shine like daylight, a brilliant white light. when first turning on the lights, the HID's fire and slowly glow brighter as they warm up, looks cool. they flicker off instantly. bought mine from Alex, as he sourced them on the German ebay site.

So what exactly do you need to do this conversion?

H4 HID bulbs - Plenty on ebay. Cant see any 4300k's at the mo, but plenty of 5000k's....

What else?

Ballast resistor?
.....

I think the best bet is to adapt some OEM projectors. Fitting HID bulbs in regular reflectors messes up the light pattern and reduces efficiency.

I just finished fitting some to my daily driver (yesterday), they are amazing!

OEM means Original Equipment Manufacturer??

My guess would be TVR headlights.
