Track/training day in sons 1303

Hi

We took my/daily/sons 1303 out for a track/training day Marulan Driver Training Centre's track (http://www.mdtc.com.au/).

It was his 1st time on a track and after some words of wisdom from Rudi a seasoned VW racer he went out and had a ball. Video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcSY94AzdmU

Congrats! It's great to see a young one take up the reigns, good videos too!

If you want to cut down on wind noise here's a couple tricks: First a band-aid or tape and a cotton ball so its loosely secured over the mic (tape down the cotton ball but not hard enough to compress it fully. Second, cut the neck off an old sock and fold it into a band, then wrap it around the camera over the speaker. I use the sock trick personally and it works great.

Hi

Thanks for the encouraging comments.

The motor is a mild 1904, my son has only been driving for just over a year, so I didn't want make anything to wild for him yet, what I did want was a bit of power for hills and safe predictable handling and braking.

The street Toyo tyres held up very well, as in didn't get chopped up, we might look at getting something better for the next time out. Priced some R spec tyres and most are around the $430au mark each, the Federal 695 RS-R are about $230au each and speaking a to friend who uses them on the street, they wear very well and only get real sticky when heated.

The camera is a Fujifilm Finepix S200EXR digital still camera, it didn't have any wind noise last time I used it. I will look into your suggestions humble about the wind noise. I'm pretty impressed with overall performance of this camera, I'm still learning to use it.

Steve
