Well, a nut that was on my carb mount rattled off and fell down the carb throat then manifold and into my engine causing it to freeze. I currently have the car at the local shop. According to the shop a rebuild is neccessary. They say $1200-1500. What do you guys think about this price? Or, do you recommend, while I am at it, have it sent to a "professional" engine builder and have a few extras done. In the end, it all depends on the price, always going for most bang for the buck. So, who, what, and where do you guys suggest? Thanks.

I had a nut from my air cleaner stud fall into my # 1 cylinder once.
I took the head off, the piston ring lands were straight, and I replaced the head. The carbs were Dell 34mm frd 1 barrels. The bottom of the air cleaner studs had star washer nuts. BAD IDEA!
They got locktited in and the exsisting nut was thrown away. I still have the crushed nut. ()
