"perfect" donor car??????

I am new to GL and was thinking of taking my 72' 1302 in this direction.

My question is, Is there a "perfect " donor car for the GL look?

Is it possible to buy one car and get engine, tranny, brakes, etc from this one car? Or do you have to mix and match parts. I have heard the 87' 944 mentioned alot, will this work? What ,if there is, a perfect donor that will have what I need?

The 87 944 will be a good donor for brakes, suspension parts and maybe seats and other odds and ends...... but the engine and trans are not going to work........well never say never.
