is there a rear sway bar avaiable for a 73 irs super?

Sway-away, and whiteline make'em. Aircooled.net has the whiteline, and sway-away. You can also get the sway-away from almost any VW parts shop. Just look for '68 and later typeI IRS... the rear is the same for STD's and SB's.

The 944 rear bar is a relatively easy swap onto a VW. A little welding required.

Unless you use your car for nothing more than cruise night, go with the adjustable Whiteline. It's more money, but well worth it. The 3/4" bars just don't cut it.

I don't know anything about Whiteline and it may very well be the cat's meow but the "cruise night" comment speaks volumes -- and not about any of the products suggested herein either.

Glad you caught that. All I'm saying is that if you involve your ACVW in any competitive situation that includes curves, it's going to take a fat sway bar to keep your patch on asphalt. The adjustability is nice for tuning your set-up. A notch here & there really makes a difference.

my car is a daily driver/racer with upgraded suspension and an extra motor. its a pure daily driver in the inter and daily/racer in the summer. u guys know the whole heater box thing gets kinda cold here so i put my 1600 in there

Try standing in the "Air Box" at Arnold.:eek:
I'm running 22mm sway front & 24mm rear with 28mm rear tortions and Red Koni's. Poly bushes all around. It's a firm & solid ride without being harsh or rough. The kicker is that it corners flat at limit. I wanted a cone carver & I built one. The set-up really works for me.

How do you adjust the adjustable whiteline sway bar?

There are 4 holes in each end of the sway bar. The closer to the end, the more leverage the suspension has on the bar. Choke up on it & the bar gets more leverage. This pic is the old style, but it will give you an idea of how it works.
