Oliver...have you had any experience with mechanical fuel injection...i'm looking for a cam recommendation. need to keep the
rpm range low for my tire and gear combination (1000-5000) will live most of it's life around 3000-3500.
not a racer but a daily driver is my goal.

type 1 - 2276
42 X 37 heads
compression = undecided
Hilborn fuel injection with 1-11/16" butterflies (4)

any opinion would be appreciated....thanks

if you need more info let me know.

Interesting would be the tire size and where you want to drive the car, but from your statement I would use a low duration - high lift cam, like the VZ-14 to VZ-25 for 1.1:1 rocker use, or the more common FK-7 or the new FK-41 to FK-44 range for 1,4:1 rocker use, all from Engle!
There are some interesting profiles from Web-Cam, where I only tested a few, but the #218, split duration #218/#119 and the above profiles are pretty good. I tested most of the Type 4 cams, but some Type 1 cams, too. Take a look on both web-pages...

the FK7...was on my maybe list...i like the 1.4 rockers.

Who is doing the timing in your Hilborn, as, if I remember it correctly, the Hilborn is similar to our Kugelfischer and works with a pump cam? Would be interesting to see, what can be done with the pump timing. I've seen Kugelfischer cams with double lifts on one lobe to provide more fuel!

the pump runs off the end of the cam...or dry sump pump in my case. the pump uses bypass valves to regulate flow. the pumps are not "timed" as similar pumps could be. it's a simple bolt on pump and adjust the jet and bypass sizes as needed.
