how big of a tire can you go on a stock 4 lug wheel. i am getting wider fenders so that isnt a big deal

I've seen some pretty big wheels. Just depends how much modification you want to get into.

let me restate the question. how wide of a tire can you go on a stokc 15 inch 4l ug wheel

Depends on the offset of the wheel as alot of the aftermarket 15" wheels have a ton of different offsets that fit our car depending on the size tire you go with. I would GUESS around 6 inches. As for a 7 inch 38et wheel, you need 85mm spring coils to have no spacers....

I have seen 205's on stock wheels but they don't look good with the tire edge sucked way in.
We are running 205/65r15 on the rear with CCC 1.1/4" wider fender and 7" chromies from JBugs and they fit perfect. We have 185/60r15 on 5.5" in the front.
