Won't be using the M5 calipers any more, just bought a complete Porsche 911 Carrera 4 brake setup (front + rear) that whas on a 1303 bug for only 500 Euro so these will be bolt on in the rear :)

Don't know about LA performance but I just ordered mine ( 7cm wider than stock) from custom speed parts in Germany for 400 euro a piece and the waiting period is 4 - 6 weeks on these.

car is almost completely sound deadened with brown bread ( way less engine noise also)

Yes, that method is possible (hard to make it symmetrical but possible), make sure you use poly eurethane and not some foam that reacts whit the glass fiber and melts.
