I didn't get my adapter kit from KEP, I got it from DS Tuning in Germany. Basically, the flywheel is a centre to match the bolt spacing of the engine and an outside to match the bolt spacing and friction face of the clutch. What they do is make it thicker to allow for the extra thickness of the adapter plate and leave a boss with a needle bearing in it to suport the input shaft of the gearbox.

I suppose if you have a resourceful machinist or precision engineer that you know and gave him a VW flywheel and a Subaru flywheel and instructions to add 10mm in thickness (presuming your KEP adapter is 10mm thick) then he may be able to mate one to the other without having to buy a whole new kit...
