911 fan on a type IV case

Hello, I'm in the process of modding a type IV case to adapt a 911/11 blade fan. On the type IV case, the crank hub when a pulley is attached to is, does the pulley to hub get shimmed? Also has any one ever seen a serpertine belt pulley for a 911 fan?

Hello,
Im in the process of building a horizontal fan setup at the moment.
This is the second one I`m building. The first one I did was about 15 years ago and used a 5mm steel plate at the front of the engine. Pictures can be seen in the engine gallery/ 1302 convertible with turbo (still works and cools). The crank pulley needed to be shimmed out with 2 or 3 shims (can`t remember). Now I`m using a 10 mm aluminium front plate and will have to make a solid spacer as shimming would not allow the pulley to sit in the centre.
Hope this helps

I'm not clear

Hello Andreas, thank you for your response. Andreas I am not clear concerning the fan hub. I beleive you picture shows were this adapter will be stationary. This is my need, I have a type IV going into a 1302. It will have a 911/260mm fan and ring attached. I had Rimco arc the case for the fan to contact. I will be using a CSP shroud. I am trying to mod up some pulley besides the old "V' groove pulley style. My project will have a 6 groove serpertine belt, with a idler pulley. So the fan will have a serpertine pulley also. From what I have seen everyone is just adapting a type one crank pulley to the type IV crank hub. I intend to have both the hub and pulley mechined from one peice of matal. Thus the need to konw how much shimm between the fan and crank hub.

Wish me luck

It's really wild how tthat car could reach 170mph all in a convertible. I have a 911 fan to put on a type 4 but i want to do an upright conversion similar to Rolf Klaus setup. I understand that rolf klaus shrouds are the best in germany. Lastly tell your friend to use a porsche 915 gearbox.
