Without serious re-working the engine wouldn't fit under the external sheet metal, the closest I have seen used a 911 pan with split body modified and welded on top.
Also, the watercooled engines used a different bolt pattern to air-cooled so you would have to use a 996 trans too (or adapter plate, but that would push engine back), don't think that has been done before in a bug.. Rich
