Never worried about thrust load, never had any issues nor heard of. However if a bearing fails replace it and keep driving. I think Alex did an article about these fans a while back, should still be somewhere. There are different diameter fans available as you know and it sure is possible to turn the fanblade down, however you`ve got to be careful when turning them down as the blades are very brittle and can break off easily
