axle too short

my csp drums came today and the axle is too short to go all the way through the drum. the axle nut gets on about 2 threads thats it. is it ok to cut the drum part that is too long it doesnt look like it will hurt the integrety. wat should i do?

Sounds like you have drums for a '68 that uses a slightly longer axle and wider shoes. Having that part machined down some is common but I don't know for sure how much you can take off.

68 and later cars have longer splines. To use the 68+ drums on earlier cars, you have to trim 0.600" - 0.625 off the snout of the drum. Good Luck
