I'm planning on using 2002 and later M3 side markers. I don't have a picture handy but you should be able to find one if you search ebay. I think the new beetle(aside from my dislike of them)side markers are a bit too square for my curveous, ya I said curveous 1302.

they are new beetle. i got those from some company out of Canada as they were the cheapest. i will dig through the receipt pile and see if i can find them. they had a good selection of many styles for many car makes. mine were made by in.pro.

Do you have to just drill a hole in the side of the car, or is there a form to be grafted in to mount the lights?

yes, but a big hole. the hole is just smaller than the marker itself. it wedges in on one side and has a spring clip on the other. bulb access is from the inside. here is a pic of the hole...
