Jake is right.
Use a big type 4. In South Africa there is a number of type4 powered sercuit racing beetles.With the right cooling the type4 is a very relyable engine. The type1 is also expensive to build ( to last ) in long distanse racing.
The low rpm torque of the type4 is very nice when racing on a tight track.
