42mm or 50mm offset

I'm think of purchasing some Centerline RPMs for a real good price. They are 17x7 and weights ~14lbs. The two offsets that they offer are 42mm and 50mm; here is my question... Which offset is better to stuff them under stock size fenders?

The front is going to be narrowed 2 inches per side (along with cb dropped spindles and disc brakes) and the rear is going to remain stock (other than disc brakes). The car is a '62 and it will be lowered so the wheels will fill the arches without any gaps. I'll figure out what spacers I need later but at this point in time I have no clue because the only aftermarket wheels I've purchased for a bug are the typical BRMS and Empi relplicas. Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Chase

the 42's would require less spacing than the 50s. I'd probably fit the 42s.

I didn't even know that center line makes wheels with that offset. Are they good for street, daily use?

oh yea you can search through some of the post out there to help with the spacing. Basicly you want to narrow the beam to pull the wheels in after the stuff that pushes it out, like brakes, spindles, and spacers. More of a correction thing. Your turning radius changes and, turning gets worst after narrowing solely or big offset solely, but in combination it will help gain it back.

good luck

Centerline makes a "sport compact" wheel. It is intended as a daily driver/racer. It is rotary forged (super strong and LIGHT) and I like the look. It is not like the old aluminum racing wheels (like Michelle or Erco) but more of a contemporary (ricer type) wheel. They are also really light for a street rim. Click here for more info on the rim
