17s on a 1303

Be kind its my first thread!
I've just bought a disc conversion for my 73 1303 and also re-drilled discs and drums for 4x100 fitment. Am i right in thinking to fit 17s I will need slimline struts like kerscher or topline maxx ones? Also what offset wheels will i need to keep original wings. i've been offered 17s with et38 4x100 but think i may need larger offset? One last thing can i run 205/40s all round
