just as a piece of info , i was told by a reputable vw tuner to leave type 1 cv's on a irs box output as a weak point , 20 mins to replace as opposed to sending the weak link into the box itself diffs etc and gears are far more expensive and time consuming to replace , makes perfect sense to me .

I would a agree with that. I broke a Quaife output shaft, the Kombi CVs were fine, no damage to them at all, it was my fault that it broke, but CVs would have been easier to fix. Steve

don't know , i personally have only bust one so far , a couple a year is fine buy me if it saves my box
