Wiper motor problems (long post)

I fitted intermittent wipers to my old 1302. I used a new switch which had the extra wire in it for the intermittent function and used a Mk1 Golf relay (111 955 531). In the 70s I found a factory wiring diagram for it in a Bay Window Bentley manual, but I cant seem to find it again.

I have posted the wiring changes that I did in the picture below.

If you wish get rid of the intermittent function you just need to bridge between 53M & 53S on the relay so that you reconnect the 53 terminals again between the switch an motor.

As far as the wipers working by themselves, I found this to be caused by one of those little brass tangs under the 4 switch hold down screws being missing, apparently they earth the wiper switch.

I actually quiet like the intermittent function.
