There are posts about axle length, I think the early 944 ones were slightly shorter than stock type 1, I think that must have been balanced by the slightly wider 905 trans as I didn't have any problems...

The axles that are slightly shorter than T1 I recently found out are 410mm, whereas the beetle axle is 415.5mm
