Good chance you have a bad ground on one side.
You also should check to be sure your sockets for the dual filliment (1157) tail and stop light is correct you may have them reversed. Many of the aftermarket kits have som pretty poor set ups for the sockets and many have the locator tabs backwards which can be corrected by just switching the stop/tail wires.
