Porsche 915 gearbox for sale!
Porsche 915 Gearbox out of an early 911
It was mounted into my germanlook beetle project then removed, sodabasted, etch primed and painted silver. The only things i have done to the gearbox is drill 4 holes in the bell housing to mount it to a beetle - and shortened the shift rod. Unfortunately i cannot read the code on the bottom rib as it has been scratched where its been sat on the floor. Looking for £1,000ono i also have a 915 shifter, shift rod, coupling and front mount which i can sell seperately. Cheers Deano |

This gearbox looks to be from an SC (3.0) early models up to 1978 as from the side cover...Electronic speedo and 8:31 R&P.

Sure it can be either and after closer inspection there is early drives flanges with 4 bolts 2 pins combo...Is there two bolts that secures the T/Ο bearing guide to the case or none ?
If so then an 7:31 R&P,mech speedo and magnesium case...

it's the latter jim, mech speedo - magnesium case with TOB sleve part of the casting of the case. the slightly later ones had a pressed in sleeve then the later ones than that had the two screws securing the tob sleeve. it feels hell of a lot lighter than my '79 aluminium cased box!
