Hi

Love this thread.

Lucky you found the error with that trans mounting now.

Wouldn't life be so much easier if we didn't do all this stuff to old VWs, but it would be a pretty boring life.

That means sitting on the couch with the misses every day. Better have some gearbox troubles.

Gearbox is in again. It is further inwards so I had to shorten the cage and framehorns.

Because of the higher mounted engine and gearbox, the luggage compartment had to be raised as well. This means that is had to be widened. I wanted to use a donor piece from 1954. Now I found out that even this part of '54 sheet metal is different to a '56 piece. But with a little help of a hammer and knee it starting to fit.

8 cm higher, it has become a short firewall
