need some wheel opinions
I've been trying to run wider wheels on my bug. Right now, without getting into too many details I've got a choice to make and was hoping for some insight.
I hope to run a 17x7 rim, and the deciding factor is the offset. +35mm or +42mm. With the +35mm I don't lose as much turning radius ~11% With the +42mm I lose ~16% But with the +35mm offset the scrub and bearing wear would be larger. I havn't been able to find the original scrub radius, it would increase in the order of ~52.1% and the edge of the wheel would be ~60mm further out (compared to stock) thus that outer bearing would wear faster. With the +42mm offset the scrub and bearing wear are not as bad. Scrub radius is now about ~34.6% and the edge of the wheel would be ~52mm further out (compared to stock). the edge won't be too much further out, when you compare the two, but the scrub and turning radius differs a bit. thanks for any opinions Rip
