Sharpbuilt shrouds

Anyone have a link or info on sharpbuilt shrouds? The link from t4secrets isn't working.

I've got a 911 fan, ring, and alt, wanting to know my options.

Thanks guys.

That word file would be great.

I'm laying out the plans for the 61 VKG car, so far it looks like:

61 ragtop body, 2001 mitubishi alloy green
70's irs pan
85 944 rear arms and brakes
85 944 front brakes on ghia or cb spindles
2.0 t4 motor, webcam, weber 40idf's, 914 heads
exhaust TBA ( maybe another BAS)
901 tranny and shifter
16" porsche cup wheels
911 RS style interior (minimal interior)
911 gauges (tach and speedo minimum)
h4 headlights w/911 lenses

Haven't decided on:
Seats, either acura or the sparcos in the 911 right now, kind of a bitch to get in and out of in the 911
rear lights, 61's are kinda small but cool
bumpers, if any

Project starts as soon as I get the pad poured under my carport, plan on being on the road spring of 04.

(oh yeah, Zen, buy my car)

As for the Tach the 911 will not work as it is for a 6-cylinder.

But some great alternatives are cheap and common like the early 924/944 ones and 914 ones. All can be had for like $20.

Sounds like a good plan!

GLF,

The 6-cyl. Tach can actually be altered to 4 cyl. Red line is up a bit further :-) Its working fine in my car.
Its one of the few things, I've let another (company) do.
Looks like a super GL set-up to me JHelgarson!

Guess I should change that description, I have a 912e tach, for a t4. Already for a 4 cylinder. The speedo is a 1970 mechanical speedo.

The brakes, engine, trans, pan combo are almost identical to mine. Where are you in NC?

I'm in the south end of NC, in Southern Pines.

I've been thinking (dangerous thing). How hard would it be to take the 911 shroud I have and marry it with some 2.0 tin to make my own shroud?

If you are looking for a cheaper alternative to the sharpbuilt or european shrouds, you can check out California Import Parts. I bought their type 4 shroud, it appears to be a copy of the common european shrouds. The instructions suck, but the machining dimensions are the same as the BAS shroud. With some mechanical apptitude it is very useable and about half the cost.

Looked at CIP site, costs as much as the sharpbuilt, and have a waiting list.

The price has gone up about $50 since I bought my shroud. I thought Sharpbuilt was about $700 by the time it got here to the states...... For the same $$$, I'm sure the Sharpbuilt is a better deal.

I haven't looked at CIP's site yet. Does their shroud come with the fan and alt? I know Sharpbuilt's doesn't. I'm looking at the kit from Aircooled.net. Come's with everything. About $900 with Porsche balanced fan and Rabbit (Golf 1) alternator. I want a Sharpbuilt but by the time I find a fan and alt, pay for it, and get it shipped from Australia, not to mention the shipping for the fan and alt., I'm probably better off going with the AC.net shroud to save aggrivation. Still researching though.......

That's what I mean. It might be easier to get the whole package in one shot. Nothing against the others.
