911 Front Suspension?

I just bought a 911 parts car, and I am interested in retrofitting the 911 front suspension in place of the ball joint beam in my 66 ghia. Has anyone tried using the 911 front suspension? Obviously it will require some fab work (definitely NOT a bolt-on affair), but it's so simple looking and I would like to use the rack and pinion. Any help/advice appreciated.

That sounds like a pretty major operation - converting a BJ car to McPherson strut....
Might be easier to hack the (whole) front end off both cars and swap them around.

But have to say, anything is possible with enough time and money..... probably cost more to put that suspension on a Ghia and a total restore on the 911!

I think 911's didn't get Mcpherson struts till the 993 models which is mid-90's. They had a torsion setup, 914's are the same. The 911 suspension has it's pluses and minuses, + might as well use the rack and pinion steering, - not as good as the Mcpherson struts.

It shouldn't be too difficult to install, there's guys on here who are designing their own double a-arm front suspension, now thats difficult.
