CB performance 944T kit question for Lanner

Hi Lanner,

I've put the CB sropped spindle kit on my cabrio this weekend, and used the specified seals and bearings. All went together without a problem and its an excellent kit.

The rubber seal that goes on the end of the hub seems to rub against the very start of the dropped spindle which makes the hub feel like its dragging as it turns. Is this normal? Will it only do this when the seal is new, and it will free up over time, or am I missing something.

I assembled it as follows:-

Spindle --> grease seal --> Big bearing -->Hub <-- small bearing <-- cats head washer <-- spindle nut

The bit thats interfering is the spindle to grease seal bit.

Once again I highly recommend Lanners Kits, they are well priced and made the job easy

Thanks

Steve

Steve,

That's normal. I put the inner bearing-to-grease seal face distance exactly the same as stock. There is a certain amount of drag with the grease seal. If there was no friction, then the seal would not be making contact, hence not sealing. When turning by hand, the drag seems alot, but in the context of rolling resistance for the vehicle, it's negligable.
